Symposium Program and Abstract Book
The symposium program and abstract book will be provided to the participants and will be available online at the Symposium web site.
Welcome Cocktail and Poster Presentations
Welcome Reception will be held at the Symposium Venue on July 11th, 2011. All participants who register to the 6th International Symposium on Linguistic Politeness can attend the Welcome Reception.
Gala Dinner
Gala Dinner of the 6th International Symposium on Linguistic Politeness will be held on July 12th, 2011 at the Tike Restaurant (Billur Sokak No 17/2, Kavaklıdere Ankara). Registration is required for the Gala Dinner. The price for the Gala Dinner is 40 Euro per person. You can register for the Gala Dinner from the online registration module. Transportation
Private airport transfers can be arranged upon request (online booking) with an extra charge. Airport transportation will be managed by ARBER Travel upon request and have to be done online via the web page.
Transfer fee is 50 Euro for one way and should be added to the registration fee. It takes about 45 min from the airport to the hotel and the regular taxi fare from the airport to the Symposium hotel is 75 EURO.

Invitation
Delegates requiring a letter of invitation in order to attend the Conference, can write to the organization office specifying the necessary details. Please note that this procedure aims explicitly at assisting delegates who need to obtain a visa or permission to attend the conference. It is not an official invitation covering fees and other expenses and does not imply any financial support from the conference organisers. The registration fee must be settled for delegates who wish to claim an invitation letter.
Visa
Turkey is a EU-member candidate state. No visa is needed for EU citizens, for non-EU citizens please contact the nearest Turkish Embassy. Visa is needed for citizens of nearly for all countries. Please check your country's status from the link below. Those who need an official invitation in order to obtain a visa for entering Turkey, contact us as soon as possible!

Rental Car & Driving License
There are offices of international car rental companies in the hotels. National driving licenses of foreigners are recognized throughout Turkey .
Banking & Currency Exchange
The currency unit is "TL- Turkish Lira". Some foreign currency can be exchanged on arrival at the airport in Ankara. Banks are open from 09:00 to 16:30 Monday through Friday, some banks in the city provide extended banking hours. Exchange facilities are also available in hotels and exchange bureaus located in the city center.
Credit Cards
Most of the hotels, restaurants and shops accept major international credit cards.
Personal Insurance & Emergency
Personal insurance and accident insurance are recommended to all participants during their stay in Turkey . The O rganizing Committee will not accept any responsibility in this respect but assistance will be provided in urgent cases. In case of illness or accident, contact the hotel reception or the registration desk at the Symposium venue.
Climate & Clothing
July is the middle of summer in Ankara, with temperatures ranging between 25-35 °C in the daytime and about 18-24°C in the evenings. We advise you to bring light clothes.
Business & Shopping Hours
Government offices are open on weekdays from 08:30 to 17:00 and closed at the weekend. Most of the shops are open from 09:00 through to 22:00 Monday to Saturday. Many of the supermarkets, shopping malls, department stores, newspapers and food shops are also open on Sundays.
Tipping
Tax and service charges are included in the cost of all goods and services. Although it is not mandatory, a small tip is expected for good service. As a guideline, add about 5% - 10% to the total bill.
Electricity Supply
The electric current is 220 Volts / 50 Hz AC with European type connections.
Certificate of Attendance
A certificate of attendance will be given to all registered participants.
